Alma- Tomb of Rabbi Elazar ben Azariah

When a replacement was sought for the role of head of the Sanhedrin by the Talmudic Sages for the temporarily deposed Rabban Gamaliel, the choice was Rabbi Elazar ben Azariah because of his extraordinary qualifications despite the fact that he was only eighteen years old at the time.

His tomb is reported to be in the village of Alma about 5.6 miles north of Zefat.
